To build this model is to walk through time.The decision to build this sports complex was made in 1927, but when the gates opened on May 17, 1931, it was originally known as the Mitteldeutsche Kampfbahn. Imagine the scene: 35,000 spectators packed into earth embankments, sitting on wooden benches, watching the very first international friendly when Germany faced Romania just months after opening.
But history is rarely static. After WWII, the pitch was tragically used to grow potatoes by occupying forces. Yet, like a phoenix, it rose again. In 1948, it was reborn as the Georgij-Dimitroff-Stadion, becoming a premier venue in East Germany.
The Golden Era: In 1951, the stadium hit its legendary peak. As local club Turbine Erfurt battled for the championship, a record crowd of 47,390 fans packed every conceivable space. That is the energy our model captures—the ghost of that impossible roar.

Unlike many modern renovations that tear everything down, the architects retained the historic covered West Stand (built in 1994) while completely rebuilding the East, North, and South sections. They added a three-story main building featuring the stunning "Parksaal"—a 1,550-square-meter event hall that literally looks out onto the pitch.
The result? 
A multi-function arena holding 18,600 fans for football or up to 30,000 for electrifying concerts. It became the most modern conference venue in Central Germany.
