MOC-248825 1/125 Scale Church Building Blocks Set (6808PCS), Detailed Landmark Bricks Display Set
Features:
.Product Introduction: Designed and authorized by tralux21.
Amsterdam's beautiful Vondel Church was originally built between 1873 and 1880, and its official name is Kerk van het Allerheiligst Hart van Jezus (Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus). Because of its proximity to Vondelpark and Vondelstraat, the church quickly became known by the nickname "Sacred Heart Church." In 1904, the church's original tower was destroyed in a fire. Since 1977, Vondel Church has no longer been used as a religious venue and was converted into a multifunctional urban building. It has long served as a cultural center in Amsterdam, especially for nearby residents.
Unfortunately, during the New Year's Eve celebrations of 2025–2026, the church suffered another fire. Fireworks likely struck its tower, and the flames quickly spread to the roof. The roof and the beautiful tower collapsed, leaving the church almost completely destroyed. Even more heartbreaking is that the Netherlands will ban private fireworks starting from New Year's Eve 2026–2027, making the accident feel tragically preventable. Fortunately, many donations have already been received, and restoration efforts are expected to move forward. Let us hope that this beautiful building can be saved.
