Background：
The Watcher in the Water is a terrifying and mysterious creature with numerous tentacles, dwelling in a stagnant pool or lake near the West-gate of Moria. J.R.R. Tolkien described it as “a dark and still lake,” formed by a dam across the Sirannon River. Over time, the water deepened and crept closer to Durin’s Gate, leaving only a narrow passageway. Long before the Second Age, this area was part of the ancient road connecting Ost-in-Edhil and Khazad-dûm. Some say the creature itself built the dam over the course of many decades.
